While we all know Celestial Sapiens (the species of Alien X) as beings split into two minds (or consciousnesses), this isn’t entirely accurate. Let’s take a closer look.
First of all, every Celestial Sapien contains two consciousnesses. These are: the voice of rage and the voice of love. Even though Celestial Sapiens possess god-like powers, the constant disagreement and contradiction between these two sides cause endless philosophical debates, often leaving them unable to act at all. This is actually a brilliant concept! It presents a fascinating surface for thinking about philosophy, consciousness, and logos. It's very similar to Heraclitus' notion of dualism. The *arche* (origin) arises from the unity of two opposites. If everything in the universe is logically born from a Celestial Sapien’s decision, it suggests that duality is the foundation of all things—just like proton and electron, positive and negative charge, fire and water, rage and love.
However, this is not always the case in the series. There aren't always just two consciousnesses. Benjamin himself enters as a third consciousness—*the mind*. We already know this from the show, but what’s interesting is that some Alien X forms lean toward one side. Yes! Some Alien X variants clearly show a tendency toward specific traits, which implies the presence of a third voice—or even multiple voices. Alternatively, one of the original two voices may dominate. This hidden message is subtly conveyed in certain episodes. You can see that some Alien X characters behave as if decisions are being made by a single consciousness.
